Bourbon Baroque (501c3) is a Louisville, Kentucky-based period-instrument ensemble founded in 2007 by historical keyboardist/director of music John Austin Clark and is co-directed by baroque violinist Dr. Alice Culin-Ellison. Since its inception, Bourbon Baroque has delighted audiences around the region with collaborative and cross-disciplinary performances of historically informed Baroque music in its many forms including choral, orchestral, operatic, chamber, and both baroque and modern dance.
The ensemble prides itself in working with cultural partners (opera, ballet, various choirs, museums, schools, historic homes, and even puppetry troupes) to produce transformative, culturally relevant, and engaging programming.
Each year Bourbon Baroque partners with a variety of academic institutions (PK-12 and collegiate levels) through workshops, masterclasses, and concertizing, in addition to a fully programmed season with 1-3 large collaborative projects and various smaller run-out concerts in the community.
Every March, Bourbon Baroque celebrates Early Music America month with engaging “pop-up” performances in underserved areas of the community.
